Oh my goodness I love this book so much and i love any book that has to do with the main character that's has type 1 diabetes those are my favorite books I love that this has no swear words or sex in it i read alot of books but only have three that have to do with type 1 diabetes which is very special too me cause of my family having it and I love learning more about it and understand what my family goes thru.

Last Dance is about a 8th grade girl named Rachel Deering who wants to be a professional ballerina. However, Rachel hasn't been feeling the greatest. She's always tired, really thirsty and needs to go to the bathroom a lot. She even starts to smell like nail polish remover.Things take a turn for the worst when while at dance, Rachel faints and wakes up to find herself in a hospital and diagnosed with diabetes. Rachel has a hard time accepting/dealing that she now has diabetes and that her life has changed.But with the help of her family, Dr. Malar, her friend Jenny and a cute boy who also has diabetes named Shawn, Rachel learns to finally accept what her life is like with diabetes and also learns that even though she has diabetes she can still live her life the way she wants to. Meaning she still can be a professional ballerina even with her diabetes.OK so I liked this book. It was a quick read. I always love to read books that involve dancing just because it's something that I can relate to. But even though I enjoyed this book I found myself annoyed with two characters.Mostly I found myself annoyed with the heroine Rachel. I found her too whiny for my taste. I know Rachel is only an 8th grader so she's only 13(I think or around that age I don't remember how old she is) but even for a 13 year old I would have thought she'd act more grown up not behave like her 9 year old sister Chris.She's always fighting with her mom and her little sister which I can sympathize with. Moms and daughters don't always see eye to eye and siblings can be exasperating. Still even though I can sympathize Rachel still was too whiny.She whined about nearly everything or was defensive about it.Ex.) Mrs. Deering insists Rachel go to Dr. Stein a pediatrician since Rachel isn't feeling good but Rachel doesn't want to go because to her Dr. Stein is a baby doctor. Which is a lame excuse to me because if I were in Rachel's shoes I'd go to any doctor to find out why I wasn't feeling good.Rachel's mom also annoyed me. Yes, she does love Rachel and care for her well being but a few times she wasn't a very sympathetic mom and she kept saying everything will work out.Ex.) She forces Rachel to go to the dance recital to support her sister Chris and when Rachel tries to get out of it(by locking herself in her bedroom and yelling she won't go which isn't a very mature way to handle things) her mom tells her she will be going and then says it was Rachel who quit in the 1st place all because of a little barre work and no explanation that isn't very sympathetic for a mom.So yes I did enjoy reading this book but I found Rachel way too annoying and her mom annoying too.

I've read all of the fiction books that have type 1 diabetic main characters, which is why I bought this one. I used to read Lurlene McDaniel when I was in grade school, and I think that's who this is intended for. It's a decent story."Last Dance" was written several years ago, copyrighted in 1982. This story was written 30 years ago. Knowing this book was written so long ago from the beginning of reading this story, I expected to find a lot of out-dated information in there regarding diabetes treatment. And I did. But, I was expecting that, so I didn't mind reading the old beliefs. That's the incredible thing about science and technology- we are always finding better ways to treat sicknesses.What I was surprised to read about, however, were the facts about diabetes which I've NEVER seen included in a fiction book before. I've read at least 10 books with diabetic storylines, and they have not once mentioned a few things "Last Dance" mentioned. Which actually made me appreciate McDaniel's research. She either has personal experience, or she is very thorough.Extremely short book. I think it's the smallest size I've ever seen, with large font, and 148 pages. I was shocked. The storyline was cute. A bit predictable. It was a decent book for young readers.

I don't think I have ever given anything but 5stars for this author. This is about a girl with diabetic she find out and wants to be a dancer .

This book was a perfect gift for my friend who is a ballerina. No, she does not have (SPOILER ALERT) diabetes, but she is a dancer and could relate to that and the dream, etc.

Great book for any girl who likes a good ending and the love of medical knowledge. Two thumbs held up.

Although members of my family have fought in WWI, WWII, the Korean War, Iraq and Afghanistan, I must confess that I myself am not a military veteran. This is why it is important to me that the men and women who have served their country continue to publish their memoirs so that the rest of us may, to the best of the authors' abilities, learn about their experiences and vicariously insert ourselves into their battles.Sergeant McGarry's "A Night In the Pech Valley" continues this fine tradition.The book is an expressive retelling of the author's military experience beginning with his decision-making process as he makes the decision to serve his country, continuing into basic training and the Ranger selection process, his deployments to Iraq and culminating in his deployments to Afghanistan, concluding with a harrowing night-time battle in the Pech Valley. Sergeant McGarry's descriptive recollection of his experiences brought his story very close to home. I would highly recommend reading this book.

Great book. One thing I liked in particular is that, while it takes place among the ranks of the military, I saw the parallels and application of the Ranger philosophy to civilian life. On one level it is a book about focus, dedication, keeping your head in the game, executing objectives, and getting results. Sometimes there will be setbacks; however, those are to be expected and do not deter one from his ultimate objective: getting the job done. It’s no wonder that soldiers transition so well into management positions within a company. They are professional problem solvers.For example, there are several parts in a NITPV where the soldiers either get injured, make a mistake themselves, or find themselves in less than desirable circumstances, surrounded by the enemy. The calm resilience that they display in taking the steps to remedy and advance their positions is an inspiration to anyone who’s ever had a problem, which is everyone.It’s a book about discipline and what it takes to succeed. It makes you want to approach your work and life with the same discipline, focus and enthusiasm of an Army Ranger; to have that passion and pride in the execution of your job, no matter what it is. I found myself trying to apply the Creed to situations in my own life. At times, we all have a tendency to let the obstacles in our path intimidate us and take our head out of the game while we have a pity party for ourselves. But it’s reading about lives like these that are a good reminder to push forward and meet the challenges that we face head on.On the surface it is a fantastic and honest take on modern warfare. Beneath the surface it’s a book on effective living.

I have the privilege of knowing a serving member of the 75th Ranger regiment with multiple tours in the sand. Obviously he cannot tell me much nor would I ask. This book is a poignant description of how I picture the Rangers and know in my heart that they are truly the best of our young men. I thank the author for allowing me a glimpse into the brotherhood. She's 25 and good at her job. The world built by the author is stark and it happens during the night shift. And it's a dank and dark place. The sense of oppression is tangible.I don't know if there was an editor. I was hard pressed at times to understand a sentence or paragraph and had to re-read several times.It was an engaging story. I kept reading because I wanted to know the end of the story (even fighting through the bad edits).I won't read the next installment because I don't want to go through the bad edits again.And...this isn't a first foray into writing for this author, so it's disappointing.

These books are the antithesis of judging a book by its cover. The covers are beautiful professionally designed artwork. The contents are appalling. I can’t believe that there aren’t proofreaders, beta readers or editors that have touched these books. As for it being promoted as lesbian fiction—that’s a downright offensive joke. I made my notes and highlights live but slowed down after the 12th chapter.I’ve only ever said this once before in decades—-don’t bother.

I was looking for something different to read in lesfic and boy did I find it.This was a very great read. My first steampunk novel and it was exciting and totally different. Now i cant wait to read the sequel and more of his work.

I enjoyed this book very much. It was fast moving and I liked the characters. It was hard for me to put the book down. Julia was a strong heroine.

Reading this is like an orgasm for my brain. You know? When you connect the anatomy and physiology of your body to how the drug works with the A&P. They have simplified it to their best of their abilities. Thank you Lilley, Collins, and Snyder. This is my fave textbook yet, paired with the nursing drug guide... ugh... absolute finish. Made it easy to read and comprehend, nothing fancy to sound smart. Simple and straight to the point, so I know what I'm doing and why I'm doing it for.

 I’m in my first semester of nursing school and taking a pharmacology course. I mistakingly bought the book in its online version through my school’s bookstore, but quickly realized that I’m just not that type of learner. I need a physical book, with good clean pages that I can annotate, highlight, and mark to my liking.So, with lots of money down the drain (I can’t return the online version because I had used the access code), I decided to search for perhaps an earlier edition of the physical book on amazon. I resigned myself to believing I’d probably end of with a used book with lots of damage, but that it’d be cheaper than getting a book from my school’s bookstore.However! I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered this book for $8 and it’s in absolutely pristine condition! I cannot believe my eyes. To any book-lover or visual-learning student, it’s a dream come true to find a cheap book with all the same important content, with clean pages!! I’ll just leave it at that.I’m extremely pleased with this purchase :)

I just completed my pathopharmacology course last month. My instructor was using Richard Lehne's book.... his book is good for the people who love details but it wasn't for me. His book was really boring to me and it overwhelmed me just trying to read chapters so I could prepare for class. Eventually his book was just sitting on my shelf, not even touched for the last month or so of class.For this book..... I bought this book coz some people recommended it on allnurses. I bought it so I could learn and relearn some pharmacology in preparation for med-surg this coming semester. The text is not as overwhelming with detail. Everything is laid out nicely in relation to what the chapter is on. Even has a glossary in each chapter so I don't have to go around looking things up. From what I've seen, NANDA is integrated in the text similar to the fundamentals book by potter/perry.Excellent text for people who like the big picture.

I am actually pretty impressed with this book. I am not bored to death when reading this. Also, there are a lot of helpful questions and case studies through out the book. There are very few pictures but I do not mind.

As a life-long student who's taken about 200 undergraduate and 50 graduate school hours, I can honestly say this is one of the most poorly written texts that I've ever read. It is essentially the common core of nursing pharmacology. Rather than do what makes sense by organizing information in a fashion conducive to learning, the information is organized for inefficient learning. Everything is broken down by ADPIE/Nursing process, in an effort to be more nursey-academicy, rather than to provide a product useful to students. Rather than having information about a medication in one location in a chapter, it is spread all over the place. Instead of going to one or two pages to make a notecard, you may have to go to 13 different pages and manually (in a time-exhaustive fashion) search for the medication name or class being casually mentioned. If you are in a school that has easy exams, this is not a big deal. If you are in a school where that one sentence mentioned casually (under the description of a different medication, of all places - why is there information on medication X under Medication Y, which is not listed under Medication X?) on page 327, 18 pages away from the pages that predominantly talk about the medication in question, then it is a big deal. The book contradicts itself constantly, and lists different information in one section than another. For example, it may list certain characteristics in one area, but in the 6 other areas, the characteristics contradict, replace, or add. List everything in one area! You're producing a product for consumers, and you're not doing them a service by providing one of the most inefficient text books ever written. Get rid of the nursing common core ridiculousness, and actually write your text in a concise, well-organized fashion instead of being a nursing lemming who contributes to.. whatever this thing is that's occurring in nursing schools. I'm not sure what that thing is called, but it's not called, "conducive to learning efficiently."

Best pharmacology book, breaks everything down, scored 1180 on my pharmacology HESI using this book, easy to understand, sorted by classification and not alphabetical.

This is the product I ordered. The book is definitely new, but I am sad that it came in the condition it did. The box was oversized and the pages were already bent when I opened the box. This is the first time that this has happened to me when ordering books. Anyways, the book is as described and intact.

The item I received was printed in black and white, it is so obviously fake and printed in someone’s basement somewhere. A clear counterfeit.

Very concise and easy to read introduction to Git. You can tell that the author is not being paid by the word, any info that is provided is provided for a reason and the information is all in a very carefully thought out order. There is so little redundant information that if you were to read the chapters out of order just slightly or skip the first chapter you would be at a serious disadvantage compared to a reader that hadn't.If I ever need any books on other topics Richard E. Silverman has written about I will buy them before any others. I can only assume his code is equally clean.

This is a very useful book. It is not a typical "pocket guide," a book that contains only enough information to remind you of what you already know. The book is organized well but is too verbose to serve as a quick reference. This book should have been titled "Just enough Git" because it contains a lot of explanations that will help the user understand how Git works and it contains examples that show how to use Git in certain common workflows. Note, this book probably will not serve as an introduction for a person who is completely unfamiliar with Git, and certainly not for someone who is completely unfamiliar with version control. Read some of the online tutorials before you pick up this book. Also note, if you plan to use TortoiseGit this book assumes the user is doing all operations on the command line...which you won't do with TortoiseGit. However, I've found that now that I've read this book I have a much better understanding of how to use TortoiseGit.

After reading another reviewers comment : 'I had concluded git was a psychological experiment designed by insane people as an amusement. ' - I hit Buy immediately. This is definitely the book for me. I concluded early on using git that while I could follow 'cookbook' directions I was missing something fundamental - I simply didn't understand what was going on 'under the hood'.What I learned from this book is amazing - even if ignore the the fact that git is a source control tool - the underlying data model and operations are fascinating and unique - well worth reading even if you never use git in your life. Its so different you need to try to completely forget any preconceptions you have of other source control systems, even document management systems and start with a blank slate.Finally I know that Git *was* designed by insane people - *brilliant* insane people - but not for amusement, but rather pure genius turned into rock solid engineering in ways I could not previously imagine possible.

This book is the perfect size! Short and concise description of each command and it's options. It has had all of the commands I ever needed to look for! Perfect quick reference. I use it quite often. A co-worker used it and subsequently ordered one.

This is an excellent and fun to read introduction to the git version control system. I'll be recommending it to friends and colleagues whenever they want to learn more about git.What I appreciate most about the book is it begins by diving into a description git internals rather than starting with trivial examples. I had been using git for years but before reading this book I was confounded by git's design, workflow and nomenclature decisions. Having "grown up" with CVS, SVN, P4, etc. I had concluded git was a psychological experiment designed by insane people as an amusement. But within the first few sections of this book much of what hadn't been clear to me before all started to make sense. After reading this book I've moved the authors of git out of the "insane" category and into the "insane genius" category.
