English is my second language. I like a reference that is clear, simple and easy to remember. To me, the book is not bad at all for the price. I have learned quite a few things from this book in a way that is easy to remember in various circumstances. I am sure there are many ways to communicate to others in the business world. However, this book is a good starting point. I like when the author differentiate the informal and formal way of business English usage. In addition, the author also gives samples of letters, emails as well as reports so that you can use as a guide. Good book and price. Highly recommend it! In fact, I am considering of purchasing more books from this author.
I recommend this book to all administrative personnel to purchase it  in order to enhance writing skills and improve our daily reports and emails.
At first it does seem useful and I thought to use it with a business writing class, but a careful reading revealed a number of problems. It does seem that she chooses what is formal and informal by tossing a coin. How does she decide that kindly is formal and please is informal, for example?Also some recent style changes have been ignored. Particularly the Oxford comma which requires the comma before and in a series, saying it's only used in Am Eng.Why are there formal and informal wedding invitations and responses in a book of "essentials" of business English. Maybe we should have to proper form of introductions between dukes and the second cousins of cricket batsmen? There are a few useful things that make the idea of business writing seem simple, but it feels under-researched and not proofread. I think the one sentence in the book that bothers me the most is the following.<"Its" also exists as a possessive pronoun, but it is quite rare. >Clearly it's time to feed the dog its dinner. Quite rare indeed! You should make sure the the container has its bill of lading attached. Rare as dragon bones.A lot of better books at better prices-- and more reliably edited. Not highly recommended. Not complete rubbish either, but it needs some collaboration.
I needed a book with some basic guidelines to write emails and letters and this have proved quite good in my business English course.
It is easy to read,very practical and useful. I searched for this kind of book a lot and this one is one of the best.I recommend this book to students and businessmen.
I found this book helpful. Some parts are a little bit over-repetitive, but it helped me improve my writing skills.
The writer of this book needs to go back to primary school! Within the first few pages I found several spelling errors. Also, many of the example don't include punctuation! Luckily I am out only a few dollars and so I won't be wasting my time trying to get my money back.Please don'y waste your time or money on this book.
