It doesn't contain all the answers, but its concise form will transform your thinking and start you in the right direction without having to slog through any huge volume of rhetoric. This is a very foundational spiritual book. Short and to the point about the different inner tangles we need to be freed of and the power of very simple contemplation to free us. I was looking for a book to jump start my contemplative practice and this was just what I needed.
Thomas Keating writes beautifully and his prose is understandable by the theologian or the lay reader starting with contemplative prayer. I studied the book with a small group of clergy and lay and am now rereading it slowly to engage my own spiritual growth.
Thomas Keating is such a joy. I love how he breaks down complex ideas about life and spirituality in such easy to understand ways. Excellent book!

It’s a short easy to read book. Unfortunately it did not get to me when I needed it. However a second book was sent within two days. It’s actually a lecture published as a book. I love the cover, doubles as a bookmark
