Very long overdue work. In fact, I believe it's the first of its kind. It's laid out like a language text. I'm a linguist and have used hundreds of language texts and this one is looks to be quite a good one, in spite of the fact that you "get your feet wet" extremely quickly. By exercise 1.6, you are already matching up the approximately 175 logograms, their bi-syllabic "alphabet" from a table to examples in the exercise. (They are not necessarily identical to what's in the table either; additionally, each town or even scribe had his own style.) There are technically only 100 slots for the logograms (20 consonants x 5 vowels), but in one case, the ['u] logogram manifests itself 11 different ways, depending on context from a number of factors. A glyph may consist of one or many parts (the most "meaning"-full one is indeed full, consisting of 13 parts, or individual words, prefixes, suffixes, superfixes, or other affixes, etc.). Each part of the glyph is read in a strict order (yes, there are also exceptions). pp. 26 and 31 show pictorially in which order parts of a glyph are read, and the 8 steps to reading a glyph and in which order, respectively. There is a diagrammed representation in the form of a square divided into 12 boxes of various sizes and shapes. It shows in which order you read the pieces of the glyph. In this case, you divide the main square into four pieces, and beginning with the upper left hand corner and you treat each quarter of the main square sort of as its own individual logogram, then go to the upper right hand corner set of glyphs, lower left, and lower right. The set of steps is no less challenging, e.g., 1. if x, go to step 2, otherwise step 6; if x, go back to 3, otherwise go to step 8, etc. until the entire glyph is read. Well, I just wanted to give a small idea of what this is like in the beginning of the book. There is also a rather lengthy chapter on numbers and dates, a chapter on grammar, incorporating the glyphs, etc. One thing I've long been plagued with is the difference between the transcription and transliteration systems. The book explains also about this. It makes Japanese look like a piece of cake, but I'm the type that loves challenges. I am very grateful for this work; I've been waiting a long time for it. As a side note, I'm also excited for another long overdue work: Martha J. Macri's The New Catalog of Maya Hieroglyphs: The Classic Period Inscriptions and The New Catalog of Maya Hieroglyphs, Volume Two: Codical Texts. Only just over a year old, it gives an exhaustive inventory of the Maya glyphs known up to that point. Check Amazon for these two works. Well, I've been going on enough. Just very happy about the possibility of finally learning the language I've been limping through on and off for over 20 years.

This is a didactic tool for reading Mayan glyphic texts. In addition to explanatory reading material, there is plentiful review and drill, so the reader can judge his progress in understanding and using the hieroglyphic methods. There are tables of the syllabic and pictorial material. Other books have quantities of glyphs which have known meanings, so you can supplement what this book has with additional material as much as you can afford. This is not a mere dictionary, for grammar and structure are covered, as much as is known by today's epigraphers.

As an undergraduate student I have personally begun to study Mayan hieroglyphic writing in complete isolation and working from a variety of sources that ranged from databases containing peer reviewed academic articles, to hard to find books. Alas, all of the material I went through in times now gone by, has been compiled into an incredibly beneficial package. This is to say that although the material I found on my own was quite satisfyingly engaging, I realized how much time was needed to search for these materials. This process may have once deterred people whose interest was piqued but found this obstacle too bothersome to pursue further. However, this book gathers up all of the basic concepts and organizes each chapter in a way that makes sense and that helps to make the process less overwhelming. All in all, if you're a student like myself and have been told that this line of study is meant for a graduate student but could care less, buy this book. You shall not regret it.

It is a good book. It for beginner trying to understand things from beginning. I would recommend but also get a book that is up to date because alot of things have changed since this book was written.

This book covers most every facet of TCP/IP. The information presented was comprehensive and unfortunately, somewhat dry. There is a lot of technical data and information provided within this book which made the reading is a tad heavy. I experienced some difficulty reading and comprehending the information because the print is of 8 and 9 pica, which is very small and somewhat difficult to read under most circumstances. The chapter summaries are also the author's opinions and are not actual summaries of the information within that chapter. Subnet masking could have been more throughly explained as I, my fellow classmates and my instructor desired. This book could definitely use a larger print. I like the book, but gave it 3 stars mostly because of the print size.

The book is thorough, but we have RFCs for that ... The author keeps flooding the reader with details (e.g. port numbers, sizes, addresses) even when trying to explain principals. There should be better seperation between high level concepts and implementation details that does not exist in this book (and does in other books). Also, a lot of the diagrams are meaningless, and it seemed to me a lot of the times they were here only to make the book thicker. Most of the examples are trace of packets, which are difficult to follow. High level flow examples are missing.

This book is one of the best books I have read. It goes straignt to the fundamentals of what each protocol is designed to do and gives you the values the protocol uses to acheive this aim. Basicaly if the functionality is in the packet headder it is discussed in this book. It requires a basic knowledge of the principles, but provides enough information that once you have read it, you will understand any value a packet decoder can produce. It also provides a simple but effective packet decode at the end of each section so you can actualy see the protocols in action.

This book has been my ultimate reference for TCP/IP for the past several years, and is very comprehensive. It is about as complete as can be expected given the publication date. However, it is not a book for beginners in any way shape or form. If analyzing TCP/IP is your business, or you need a good desk reference for TCP/IP, then I would highly recommend this book. I only wish more books were written with this level of detail.

This "Amazing Kittens Adult Coloring Book" is full of 30 detailed, single sided drawings of kittens. It will provide many hours of relaxing and fun coloring! By using their imagination, the artist gets to decide what color is best to color each of the kitten pictures.I have spent hours on each of the drawings I have colored in this book because there are many different parts of the drawings to color, which many different colors can be used. As I spent a lot of time drawing, I could feel myself becoming more relaxed.Since the drawings are so detailed I believe that colored pencils and gel pens will work the best for coloring them. I decided to use gel pens and although I could see some of the ink on the opposite side of each of the pages I colored on, I was happy to see that the ink didn't bleed through to the next page.I received this product at a heavy discount in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

As an owner of THREE cats, I've really enjoyed this coloring book. Like alway's Tali's designs are very detailed. Her coloring books require more detail than a lot of other adult coloring books. I've been working on one design since last night. I project it will take me about 4 days to complete. I like to spend a few hours in the evening working on these. For this project, I'm using Ohuhu colored pencils. I'll post a completed pic when I finish this piece.This paper is semi thin. I wouldn't recommend using wet mediums. I would stick to colored pencils, crayons or pens. You might be able to use markers but I would remove the page before you do to prevent bleeding.I wish the pages were perforated. This would make removing them easier.Artistically the designs are unique. There were a few times where the pattern didn't repeat perfectly. Occasionally I stumbled on to missing or incomplete lines. The drawings are easy and "happy" but to a person who prefers a lot of detail and realistic subjects, it won't satisfy. I rated it 4 because I should have realized this when bought it. Overall it's a well done book.

Bought as a gift for my 5 year old niece. She had used my adult coloring books and is great with the detail with colored pencils.

An extremely well written legal thriller by a NYC lawyer who is clearly actively practicing law--his writing, the intricacies of the story line, and his knowledge and adroit use of legal procedures and nuances, all serve to move the story line along at a good pace. And the author uses a technique I've not seen before: the chapters are written in the first person by each of the main characters. He slides easily from character to character, chapter by chapter, revealing newly unfolding facts and developments, as well as both the inner thoughts and the perspectives of those main characters as he advances the plot line, keeps the action moving forward, and always keeps it interesting. In my opinion, Mitzner is as good as John Grisham (who really invented this genre). Hopefully, Mitzner will provide us with many more to enjoy.

I can't say I loved this book, but I liked it. When I love a book, I devour it. This was more like snacking. I believe I needed to know the characters better to be invested in the outcome. I wanted it to delve deeper,perhaps. I had a hunch, early on, how it would end. If I were giving it a grade as a teacher, it would be a B-.P.S. To be fair, I wanted to add that I just read the acknowledgments and see this was a sequel. Perhaps if I'd known that and read the first book the characters were better developed in it and I would have felt more strongly attached.

I’ve loved all of Adam Mitzner’s books as courtroom and legal thrillers are my favourite genre. Mr Mitzner just keeps on getting better, if that’s possible. I loved this book so much. I couldn’t put it down and read it in two nights with twists and turns I did not see coming. The authenticity of the courtroom scenes made me feel like I was right there, holding my breath throughout the trial. I really liked the two female characters the book revolved around and the supporting cast were equally as personable. This book was so easy to read as each chapter was allocated to one character then the next. The book was also divided into parts which makes it easy for the reader to follow the storyline clearly. I found this refreshing having just come from a book that was all over the place and I kept losing track of the characters and plot. Adam Mitzner is a gifted legal author (he’s also an actual attorney which is why the books are so accurate with regard to the law and courtrooms I assume) and I cannot wait for his next book whether it be a continuation of Ella or a stand alone novel. I’m also so happy to be finally able to access his books in Australia via Amazon Kindle.

I did finish the book but the ending was even worse than the rest of the book. It wasn't quite a cliff hanger but was on the edge. I don't want to print spoilers but it was obvious who the killer was so no suspense. Did we really need to know about the $500 bill, which simply made all the characters seem utterly foolish. I really didn't like any of the characters the police as usual were made to look foolish. Certainly I bought it on offer I see the price has increased and wouldn't recommend.

This first-person tale of a murder keeps you turning the pages and then reveals an unexpected conclusion, which I will not share. You need to walk the walk yourself. I would have preferred a more definitive ending, which is the only reason why it didn’t receive five stars. I am sure the author preferred not to tie it up neatly with a bow!

Complex and imaginative, with amazing surprises and twists, “Never Goodbye” is a tantalizing who-done-it! The book is written in the 1st person of 2 main characters, both women, Ella and Dana. There is another female character, Lauren, and all three are, or have been, Prosecutors. The women are just similar enough to be confusing, which is a little annoying. Take notes 📝 it helps. Murder comes calling and it is shocking!Some office politics, police procedures, psychiatry, and detailed courtroom drama, are woven together into a engrossing storyline by author Adam Mitzner. A delightful read!

I was hooked from the very beginning of this book. The main characters seemed very real to me and I couldn't wait to see what happened at the end . Some books are laborious to read but not this one! I recommend this book to all readers...

There are times I had go back and reviews situations as well as people. The story needed you to stay current with people. I found myself forgetting who belonged to who and the why of a situation. I many times don't read for a few days then I get lost.
